RSS Template

What is RSS?

RSS (Rich Site Summary) uses a family of standard web feed formats to publish frequently updated information: blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video to an RSS document (called "feed", "web feed", or "channel"). The document may contain full or summarized version of the text.

RSS feeds enable publishers to syndicate data automatically. A standard XML file format ensures compatibility with many different machines/programs. RSS feeds also benefit users who want to receive timely updates from favorite websites or to aggregate data from many  websites.

Subscribing to a website RSS removes the need for the user to manually check the website for new content. Instead, their browser constantly monitors the site and informs the user of any updates. The browser can also be commanded to automatically download the new data for the user.

RSS on your Mobile App

There are several ways of creating an RSS screen on your app:

1. Use the standard RSS template on the EMBR Platform:

Simply enter your RSS URL and you are set!

2. If your RSS feed has embedded media / special HTML formatting, use our special RSS readers using the following process:

A. Get an encoded URL for your RSS feed (Example: http://meyerweb.com/eric/tools/dencoder/)

For example for RSS feed http://rss.cnn.com/rss/edition.rss, the encode url would be - http%3A%2F%2Frss.cnn.com%2Frss%2Fedition.rss.

B. Append an encoded URL at the end of either of the following URLs (Both URLs below are examples of RSS readers):
If you face issues with saving this URL in the EMBR Platform, use www.tinyurl.com instead to create a short URL.
